Samsung has made it easier to check if your Galaxy Note 7 is at risk of exploding.
Galaxy Note 7 owners can now use the Samsung+ app to find out if their device is one of the models potentially affected by battery issues. The app checks the model number of your phone, and will quickly tell you whether it’s eligible for recall. You can also use a Samsung’s new recall website to check too – just enter your phone’s IMEI or serial number.

The only downside is that Samsung+ only works in the US – sorry Brits (and everyone else, for that matter).
Samsung announced a global recall of the Galaxy Note 7 on September 2 after discovering a battery fault that was causing some users’ phones to spontaneously catch fire. The issue affects a select number of Note 7 handsets with a specific type of battery inside. If your device is affected, Samsung will replace it completely free of charge.
The Galaxy Note 7 was announced on August 2 and released later that month. It features a 5.7-inch QHD display, an octa-core Exynos chip, 64GB storage, 4GB of RAM, and a 12-megapixel ‘DualPixel’ camera. It also boasts an S-Pen stylus, a waterproof body and, for the first time ever, an iris scanner.
Sales of the Note 7 are currently halted in the UK, but are set to resume on September 28.
