Galaxy Nexus Pulled from Play Store Following Legal Wrangles

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is no longer available from the Play Store, Google’s device webstore. Now listed as “coming soon”, in spite of being released last year, this may be down to the recent US sales ban of the phone.

Two days ago, a preliminary injunction was granted to Apple against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, forcing the phone to be taken off sale in the US. Although Samsung appealed against the ruling, its efforts were denied. The Verge writes that Google claims the phone will go back on sale on Google Play next week, but it seems rather ominous timing, so soon after the ruling.

Google says it has an update planned that works around the issue that caused the original kerfuffle. Apple’s case against the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is based on the claim it infringes upon an Apple-owned patent relating to the voice search feature.

Of course, there are other possible explanations for the disappearance of the Galaxy Nexus. Perhaps it has been removed in the wake of its impending Jelly Bean software update. Or perhaps an intern simply… lost all the phones. Drop us your best guess in the comments.
