Frankfurter Brett is a workbench for the kitchen

Fed up of making a mess in your kitchen? This could be the answer.
It’s a simple but clever device called the Frankfurter Brett. It’s essentially a chopping board with compartments.
The bracket system is patented, and is based on Gastronorm, which is the international container standard for professional kitchens. It works by having extensible brackets hidden in its body. Slide them out, and you can pop in a container. If you don’t need them, slide them in and it’ll work as a standard chopping board.
The video at the bottom of the page shows how it can speed you up in the kitchen.
It comes in three sizes – Mini, Mono and the Phoenix. The Mini is ideal for smaller kitchens, the Mono is for a family home and the Phoenix is the big daddy. You’ll only really need the Phoenix if you throw elaborate dinner parties or work in a professional kitchen.
It comes in a range of finishes: thermo-ash, oak, maple, black plastic, bamboo and cherry. You can even choose from different colours of bracket: brass, yellow, red, silver, blue and matte black.

We love the idea. If only it wasn’t so expensive. The Mini costs €179 (£126), while the Phoenix costs €429 (£301). Which certainly isn’t cheap.
It’s passed its funding goal and will ship in December.
