Fortnite Playground Mode: What is it and how does it work?
Update 4.5 has arrived in Fortnite Battle Royale and brings with it an assortment of exciting changes and an all-new game mode.
Now available to download across all platforms, the latest patch introduces Playground Mode, a new playlist where building becomes the most important factor.
You and up to three friends can drop onto an island and do whatever you like. No more scrounging for ammunition in fear of being gunned down on the hunt for a Victory Royale.
Instead, your sole objective is to gather resources and unleash your creativity across the colourful world of Fortnite. It’s a neat idea and gives the building mechanics a chance to breathe amidst the chaos. It’s only a matter of time until something crude is made.

Update 4.5 isn’t all about Playground Mode, though. Map Markers have been introduced to highlight locations picked by teammates during squads and duos matches.
This will become immediately apparent the second you leave the Battle Bus and will save you the hassle of losing your vision while checking the map during gameplay.
Dual Pistols have been added to Battle Royale and can be found as standard loot drops in chests and across the environment. Time to go all Lara Croft on Tilted Towers!
As usual, the full list of detailed patch notes can be found on Epic’s website alongside changes to Save The World mode.
