FlexCharger charges five devices at once

Is this the most overdone charger ever? Quite possibly. It’s called the FlexCharger, and it can juice up five devices at once.

Maybe your work phone and personal mobile need charging at the same time, or you’ve got some friends round who all need power. It’s not hard to imagine a scenario where more than one mobile needs juicing. Enter the FlexCharger.

It has a dock on the top, one on the foldout tray, and wireless charging built in, so you can lay a device down to power it up. An integrated retractable cable extends up to 2m, so you can power up a fourth device, and there’s a USB 3.0 port underneath, if you need to charge a fifth.

There. You and your pals can breathe easy.

It comes with interchangeable power adapters on the back, and a compartment for storing adapters for your charging cables. On the side are buttons for power, LED backlighting and Wi-Fi.

It will mean all your devices charge in the same place, with hardly any cables looking unsightly and causing trip hazards. Each connection is a microUSB, but you can add adapters for Apple products’ Lightning cables or for 30-pin.

Modern smartphones only last a day or so before giving up the ghost, so a charger like this could be a godsend. It looks a bit big to stow in your luggage though.

It’s passed its funding goal, shipping should start in October.
