Flens is a torch add-on for your smartphone

If you’ve tried to find your way in the countryside at night, you’ll know that a torch is invaluable. But instead of carrying one, you can just take Flens, the torch add-on for your smartphone.

Yes, we know most smartphones have torch functions built in. But Flens amplifies it, making it up to 10 times as powerful. That means you’ll be able to see clearer and further in the dark.

It sticks to your phone magnetically, so you don’t need to fiddle about with fixings in the dark. Once you’ve applied the adhesive washer around your smartphone’s LED, just place Flens on it and it sticks in place.

The lens is made of scratch-proof glass. It focusses the light from the LED into a tighter area, making for a more powerful beam. That means it doesn’t need charging up – just attach it, and it does its job.

It’s small enough to fit on a keyring, and is compatible with iPhones from the 4 onwards and iPad Pro 9.7 (even when they’re wearing cases). It also works with select Android and Windows Phone devices.

It’s almost hit its €20,000 funding goal and still has two weeks to go. If you fancy one, pledge €18 (£14) and it can be yours on an early bird. It should ship in July.
