First Fallout 4 PC Mod upgrades its graphics

The first Fallout 4 mod is here and it upgrades the game’s graphics on PC.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Fallout 4 release date, one rather enterprising fan has already created the very first Fallout 4 PC mod.

Known as the Enhanced Wasteland Preset, the mod has been created by a user who goes under the name of “Razed”. It is described as providing improvements to the apacalyptic open-world game’s lighting and textures.

The mod’s description reads: “the goal of this preset was to slightly
add more vibrance to the wasteland environment in Fallout 4 and make it
appear less washed out. There is also usage of other settings that I think make the game look better”.

However, the mod is less than 1MB in size, so we’re not sure exactly how effective it’s going to be.

As Fallout 4 reviews went out across the world today, many criticised the game’s slightly shoddy facial animations.

Back in august, Bethesda’s marketing chief Pete Hines responded to graphics criticism saying that it “definitely doesn’t upset” the studio.

“I mean, certainly it ought to look and feel familiar. If you played Fallout 3 you ought to be able to see thing that are recognisable or similar or whatever. Because we didn’t make a completely different game. But at the same time, when you’re playing it it’s a mix of familiar and different. There are things that are the same and there are things that are very different.”

Our criticism of the game was that its stunning graphics are marred by some very irritating things:

“Close-up character animation is a constant disappointment, with painful, wooden facial animation and the kind of rubber-skinned, botox-faced character models that Bethesda really should have gone beyond by now.”
