Campo Santo’s Firewatch is coming to Nintendo Switch with a few surprises

Critically acclaimed narrative adventure Firewatch is coming to Nintendo Switch, Campo Santo has announced.

First released in February 2016 for PS4 and PC and Xbox One in the following September, Firewatch will soon be available on all flagship platforms.

No specific release date was announced for the Switch version, although Campo Santo has said it will launch with a few surprises this Spring.

‘And for our other players, take note: The optimizations we’re doing to Firewatch aren’t just for Switch. They’re for Firewatch’s future as well. For the many people out there who haven’t played Firewatch yet, as well as the millions of existing fans who may go back and revisit the game someday, we want the experience to be as good as it can be,’ the developer said in a statement.

Improvements coming to PS4 and Xbox One alongside the Nintendo Switch is positive news considering Firewatch’s inconsistent performance at launch.

Earning 8/10 in our review, we praised Firewatch for its poignant atmosphere and gripping story:

“As a piece of interactive fiction, though, it’s rich, gripping, beautiful and haunting. A powerful slow burner, smouldering beneath the surface, it establishes Campo Santo as a studio to watch.”
