Final Fantasy 15 Windows Edition has received a free playable demo

UPDATE – 27/02/2018

The playable demo for Final Fantasy 15: Windows Edition is now available to download from Steam, Origin and the Windows Store.

Those wishing to download the demo will need to have 21GB of free space available, although Square Enix has confirmed that 4K textures will be an optional install upon release.

The original story follows:

Square Enix has announced a playable demo for Final Fantasy 15: Windows Edition that will arrive next week.

Players can download the playable trial on Steam, Origin or the Microsoft Store from February 26.

Writing in a blog post, Square Enix confirms the demo will contain the entirety of Chapter One which will follow the tutorials and opening cluster of main quests.

Alongside the demo, Square Enix also revealed some of the bonuses coming to Final Fantasy 15: Windows Edition, and they’re pretty ridiculous.

Players who purchase the Windows Edition before May 5, 2018 will gain access to a series of costumes and items inspired by Half Life’s Gordon Freeman.

This means you’ll be able to roam into the plains of Duscae and batter some cattle with a crowbar, which sounds both crazy and amazing.

These cosmetic exclusives will be available in both the solo campaign and Comrades multiplayer expansion thanks to Steam Workshop support.

We had a chance to play Final Fantasy 15: Windows Edition and came away both impressed and curious about how it will fare on a wider spectrum of hardware:

“Final Fantasy 15 Windows Edition is a beautiful JRPG which fans who have yet to enjoy the series’ latest should definitely jump on. It brings the world to life with a flurry of new visual effects that had me fawning at the screen. In addition, there’s plenty of content here and more updates on the way for long-term players.”

The Windows Edition will launch alongside Final Fantasy 15: Royal Edition for PS4 and Xbox One on March 6, 2018.
