E3 2016 is underway, and amidst all the other noise, Bethesda revealed that Fallout 4 will be getting a VR reboot for the HTC Vive headset in 2017.
Bethesda made quiet a few announcements at E3, covering a number of its most popular titles including Skyrim, Doom, Dishonoured and of course Fallout.
The big talking point is that the games maker has been operating a stealth VR development programme for the last few years, with a view of launching virtual reality reboots for some of its franchises from 2017.
More exciting still is that the first titles to get the VR treatment will be Fallout 4 and Doom, with the former confirmed by CMO Pete Hines to launch in 2017 as an HTC Vive exclusive.

There was a time when there was little about VR worth getting worked up about, unless you really enjoyed headaches. That’s obviously no longer the case, and as if we needed further proof, the prospect of wandering Boston’s post-apocalyptic Wasteland is it.
It’s a seriously awesome, slightly frightening prospect, as anyone who lost multiple weekends to Fallout 4 last autumn will attest.
Now, it seems, we’ll have to play it all over again to experience it in glorious, glorious VR.
Sigh, no sigh.
