Fallout 4’s mod-creation tools to release in early 2016

Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed that Fallout 4’s creation tools will come first to PC in early 2016.

Fallout 4 will feature mod-creation tools for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and we can get our hands on them far sooner than we expected.

Creative director Todd Howard discussed the tools in a recent video, where he confirms that the modding tools will be available in “early 2016”. The console iterations will follow soon after.

Sony and Microsoft will be directly involved with the porting of the creation tools onto PS4 and Xbox One.

Howard was hesitant to provide a release window for the console modding tools, since they’re clearly still in production.

Bethesda also announced that id Software, developer of Doom and Rage, will be helping to refine the shooting mechanics in Fallout 4.

“Since id Software is part of our company, the first thing we did was call them. Alright, we’re going to do this from scratch, give us some tips.” Howard said.

The first-person=shooting mechanics of Fallout 3 and New Vegas weren’t the best, so having an experienced developer take the helm is pretty exciting.

If you happen to pre-order Fallout 4 on Xbox One, you’ll receive a free copy of Fallout 3 via the system’s backwards-compatibility feature.

Fallout 4 will launch on 10 November for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
