Facebook needs to bring back human Trending editors immediately

In response to accusations of political bias, Facebook announced it was removing the human editors of its Trending topics section last week.

After the bang up job the algorithms have been doing the last few days, the social network should probably considering adding the human touch once again.

The tool has gone all Skynet with false, offensive and utterly obscene stories since Facebook fired the editors (via Guardian).

Fox News’ Megyn Kelly may make headlines more often than she announces them, but the story Facebook led with on Monday morning was riddled with inaccuracies.

Those hovering over her name within the Trending section were led to believe Kelly had been fired for supporting Hillary Clinton, which is not the case. Facebook needed a human to delete it.

Elsewhere, there was an offensive headline about conservative political commentator Ann Coulter.

Also the algorithm deemed a video of a man copulating with a McDonald’s chicken sandwich newsworthy, which it is, if you’re the editor of The Daily Sport.

Facebook has so far declined to comment on the situation.

Come back, humans! All is forgiven.
