Fable Legends has been delayed to 2016

Fable Legends will now launch in 2016 for Xbox One and PC, Lionhead Studios has announced.

The upcoming free-to-play title was slated for release before the end of 2015 for Xbox One and PC, but has unfortunately been pushed back into next year.

This delay isn’t surprising when you consider how little we’ve seen of the game since E3 2015.

Lionhead Studios announced yesterday that following feedback from its ongoing closed beta it had made the “disappointing” decision to delay Fable Legends into 2016.

“Fable Legends is coming together well and it’s a lot of fun,” Lionhead explained in a blog post. “But we think that we can make it even better.”

“So we’ve decided to extend our closed beta to continue to listen to feedback from our players and add features and polish that will make a real difference.”

“This means Fable Legends won’t release into open beta this holiday as previously announced. We realise this may be disappointing for those of you not currently playing, so we wanted to tell you why.”

Lionhead has said it “didn’t anticipate just how big Fable Legends” would be during development, and had no intention to delay the game.

“The team is working exceptionally hard and we’re proud of how far the game has come,” Lionhead said. “We’re operating our closed beta 24/7 and have added lots more features, quests, creatures, and heroes to play.”

Thousands of players have already participated in the extended closed beta, providing feedback and information to the developers.

Lionhead intends to add even more players to the beta period in the coming weeks.

The open beta for Fable Legends will begin in early 2016, allowing you to play on either Xbox One or PC.

Fable Legends will support cross-platform play between the two systems, however, Lionhead is yet to confirm if both versions will launch on the same day.

Lionhead Studios plans to provide players with free DLC and content updates following the launch of Fable Legends.

The developer believes the game could enjoy a 10-year lifespan with a passionate following, if everything goes to plan.

Fable Legends is targeting a Spring 2016 release for Xbox One and PC.
