Evolve release date pushed to February 2015

2K Games has confirmed the Evolve release date has been pushed back to February 2015.

Originally, the 4v1 FPS was due to launch on October 21. Now 2K Games has revealed the game is being delayed until early next year.

Now, the Evolve release date is being held on February 10 2015.

The news was revealed during the 2K Games Q1 2015 financial results, where Take-Two President Karl Slatoff said during the investors call that the game was delayed to ensure it had sufficient development time.

Slatoff also mentioned that the game’s new February release date would “take advantage of a favourable release window.”

The October release date window for games was already looking pretty jammed, with the likes of Alien: Isolation, The Evil Within, Sunset Overdrive and DriveClub among other big titles.

Currently there aren’t that many games confirmed for next February, apart from Dying Light and Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, games like The Division, The Order: 1886 and Battlefield: Hardline are all expected in early 2015 so could be competition for Evolve.

Evolve is being developed by the team behind the Left 4 Dead games. You are placed in a rather unique 4v1 multiplayer experience, where four team members play as the hunters trying to track down a player-controlled monster.

Of course, this monster’s goal is to take down the hunters, which he can do with ease unless they work together to take him down.

During E3, Evolve was one of the best received games at the show. From the official E3 Game Critics Award show, the game managed to not only take home Best of Show, but also the gongs for Best Console Game, Best Action Game and Best Online Multiplayer Game.
