Evesham Conjures ALQEMI range of Budget LCDs

Adds a healthy dose of style.

You can always count on Evesham for a bargain. It was the first company to put a 47in HD LCD out for under £2,000, the first to deliver a 42in HD LCD to the market for under £1,400 and it even pushed out a 20in HD LCD for under £350.

So now Evesham has decided to add a little styling panache to its cost effective product lines with the introduction of the ALQEMI range (usual dyslexic marketing applies).

The new series is available immediately and consists of 32, 37 and 42in (above) models and all support native WXGA (1366 x 768) resolutions and 500cd/m2 brightness. Where the budget elements come in are the slightly below par 1000:1 contrast ratios (interestingly, the 32in has 1200:1) and single HDMI port while the 8ms response times are respectable if not cutting edge.

Elsewhere integrated digital and analogue Freeview tuners are onboard along with support for Picture in Picture (PiP) and Dolby Virtual surround sound. Wide 178 degree viewing angles come as standard and there’s also a D-Sub PC input.

A comprehensive three year in-home swap out warranty is provided and – as always – the best part is the price with the 32, 37 and 42in models retailing for just £599, £799 and £1,399 (incl. VAT) respectively so there is definite bang for your buck. Now we just need our trusty (s)Captain(/s) LCD review specialist John Archer to tell you how much…
