There’s a new update rolling out for the Essential Phone – and you’re going to want to install it

There’s a new update rolling out for the Essential Phone (PH-1), bundling a some much-requested changes that should once again make Android Auto useable.
The Essential Phone is a solid handset, but it’s a lot more temperamental on the software front than most would have hoped. Essential is committed to setting that right, though, and has now started rolling out another update for the device.
This time, the upgrade fixes a slew of bugs that resulted in Android Auto, something a number of Android users on a daily basis, crashing when attempting to execute the most remedial commands, like placing a telephone call or reading a message.

It also bundles a slew of miscellaneous stability improvements, according to Essential, as well as all the patches included in this month’s Android Security Release – an update Google hands to manufacturers for distribution on a monthly basis.

To install the update on your Essential Phone, head into Settings, select About Device, then hit Download Updates Manually. Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a notification prompting you to download and install the release.
