EE launches two new affordable smartphones

EE has announced two new affordable own-brand smartphones to add to its roster.

The UK’s biggest mobile network already offers the 4.5-inch EE Kestrel, but now it’s going bigger and higher spec with the Harrier and Harrier Mini.

The Harrier is evidently the network’s new affordable flagship device. It sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display, an octa-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, a 13-megapixel camera, and a 2500mAh battery.

Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Harrier naturally supports EE’s 4G network with a CAT 4 chipset. It will also support EE’s recently announced Wi-Fi Calling feature, which will launch this summer.

Meanwhile, the Harrier Mini is an altogether more compact proposition. It features a 4.7-inch 720p display, a 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor, and an 8-megapixel camera.

Both of these phones have been priced aggressively, as you might imagine. The Harrier will cost £199.99 on PAYG, while the Harrier Mini will set you back £99.99.

The Harrier and the Harrier Mini will be available to buy from EE on April 28.

In addition to expanding its smartphone line-up, EE has announced the Osprey 2 and the Osprey 2 Mini – two new 4G Wi-Fi devices that will be available from early May.

The Osprey 2 provides a mobile 4G mobile internet hotspot for up to ten devices, with a large 5150mAh battery providing up to 15 hours of connectivity. That battery can also be used to recharge your phone or tablet.

You probably guessed it from the name, but the Osprey 2 Mini offers a similar thing, but in a more compact package.

The Osprey 2 will cost £69.99 on PAYG, which includes 6GB data, or free on a £15 per month contract with 3GB of data. The Osprey 2 Mini can be had on an identical contract, or for £49.99 on PAYG.
