EE launches shared 4GEE plans

EE has unveiled its new shared 4GEE plans that allow families to share the same 4G contract or an individual to spread one tariff across multiple devices.
Currently the UK’s only 4G network provider, EE has launched new shared 4GEE tariffs to help people get their superfast broadband connection how they want it.
“Our customers say they find themselves managing several different plans. Life would be simpler and possibly cheaper with one shared plan. One single plan across all their devices.”
It seems fairly complicated to us, but EE claims it offers “simplicity, value, flexibility” for families with multiple contracts or individuals with multiple devices.
The ‘lead sharer’ signs up for one contract with all the standard 4GEE Plan benefits – unlimited minutes and texts – but is able to access the shared data plans for up to four sharers.
That specified lead sharer takes out a 4GEE plan, then let’s EE know who they’re sharing with and what devices they use.
Anyone can buy a data add-on and the lead sharer will receive sharer alerts. This is perfect for families looking to keep a tab on what their family is spending on their monthly bill.
All of those data adds-on are then combined into a single, and supposedly more manageable, bill.
All forthcoming tablets, dongles, Wi-Fi and smartphones will be available on the 4GEE shared plans.
EE claims the typical family with five different devices, with an average bill of £150 in total will save an average £38 per month on the shared tariff. That’s based on 20GB of shared EE data, equating to £912 savings over 24 month period.
Sharers can also be added at any time, especially when they come to the end of their contract and want to hop on board the 4GEE shared tariff.
