EE has launched its first own-brand 4G tablet, the EE Eagle.
Following hot on the heels of the £99 EE Kestrel is the network provider’s first tablet.
The device is based on the Huawei MediaPad M1 and features an 8-inch 1280 x 800p HD display and aims to be the most affordable 4G tablet on the market at £199.99 on a PAYG contract.
If you don’t fancy paying that amount up front, the EE Eagle is available for £49.99 on a £15 per month plan offering 2GB of 4G data.
Availability for the EE Eagle begins May 28 both in store and online.
“Our new 4G products stand for quality and for affordability”, said an EE spokesperson. “It’s comparable to the iPad mini but at a much more affordable price”.
EE Eagle Features
The EE Eagle features an 8-inch 1280 x 800p HD screen running on a 1.6GHz quad-core processor and 1GB RAM.
Sadly, the tablet is a bit behind the times and only runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean rather than the latest KitKat version.
There is a 5-megapixel camera in the back, but the tablet lacks a front-facing camera for video calling capabilities.
The tablet comes with the key 4G LTE and the standard Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi and an IR blaster is added for good measure.
Packaged within a metal and plastic body, the EE Eagle is fairly thin and light at 7.9mm thick and 329g.
