EE announces cheaper 4GEE tariffs

EE has announced that it will be providing consumers with a new range of entry-level 4G tariffs as a special promotion.

From January 31 to March 31, EE will be offering a 24 month tariff providing unlimited texts and calls and 500MB of data for £31 per month. Customers will also be able to choose from a range of 4G handsets for a special one-off price, including the Nokia Lumia 820 or the HTC One SV LTE for an upfront £29.99 fee.

EE seem to be responding to public opinion that its 4G tariffs were far too pricey for the average smartphone user.

The 4G network will also be introducing a new tariff offering 20GB of mobile data for its ‘super-user’ customers. The tariff will offer unlimited UK calls and texts for £46 per month on a SIM-only 12 month contract, or with a new 4G handset for £61 per month for 24 months. Both of these options are only available to customers who sign-up before February 28 though.

“It’s our aim to offer consumers the most comprehensive range of 4GEE price plans,” said Pippa Dunn, Chief Marketing Officer at EE. “With these new options we’re looking to not only make 4G smartphones even more accessible, but offer even greater value for the small number of super-users out there – ensuring EE really does offer a package that’s tailored for all customers’ 4G needs.”

The news of EE’s new tariffs follows Phones 4U’s announcement that it will be launching its own mobile network, LIFE mobile. It seems that EE is making an early bid to snag new customers before other networks begin to offer their own 4G services.
