EE 4G coverage hits a further 12 UK towns

EE’s 4G coverage is expanding, with the network provider bringing superfast mobile internet to 12 further UK towns today.

Currently the UK’s most expansive 4G provider, the EE 4G coverage is now available in 117 locations across the UK, with more than a million customers signing up.

The latest areas to benefit from the 4GEE switch on are Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Beaconsfield, Blackburn, Burton upon Trent, Coalville and Chester-le-Street.

Also gaining access to the Vodafone and O2 rival are Fleet, Gerrards Cross, Halifax, Hinckley, Houghton-le-Spring and Reigate.

Today we’re making the UK’s fastest 4G network available to people and businesses in even more towns around the UK,” Olaf Swantee, CEO of EE said. “The latest mobile devices are best on 4G, and we’re switching on that superfast experience in more places before the end of the year, making it accessible to even more people.”

Already covering more than 60 per cent of Britain’s population, EE hopes its network will be available to 98 per cent of homes and businesses by the end of 2014.

Earlier this month, it revealed connectivity won’t be limited to high end phones, like the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and iPhone 5S. It will instead be available at all price points.

“It’s not just going to be a high-end playing field,” Marc Allera, Chief of Sales at EE said of the 4G market while speaking exclusively with TrustedReviews earlier this month.

He added: “The important thing here is that manufactures are going to start accessing most of the key price points with 4G. All of the key manufacturers are very focused on 4G which is great for us.”

In addition to EE, O2 and Vodafone have also just launched their own 4G networks, providing some friendly competition while Three has confirmed its 4G services will begin rollout in December.
