Ed Sheeran is ‘buggering off’ social media for a while

We’re all guilty of spending a bit too much time on social media – is going cold turkey the answer?

Ed Sheeran has announced that he’s abandoning social media indefinitely.

The British singer, who holds a number of Spotify streaming records, made the announcement on Instagram.

He explained to fans that he’s tired of “seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes”.

According to research by GWI from May this year, the average person has a total of five social media accounts.

What’s more, we reportedly spend around one hour and 40 minutes browsing social media each and every day.

A separate GWI report in January claimed that social media accounts for around 28% of all online activity.

It’s not clear when Sheeran plans to return to the world wide web, but we reckon his fans won’t be too chuffed about a departure of any length.
