eBay’s free Google Home Mini deal really sticks it to Amazon Prime Day

eBay US is offering customers a free Google Home Mini speaker when they spend $119 (or more) on absolutely anything on the site.

The offer comes as a very overt salvo against the forthcoming Amazon Prime Day sales event taking place on July 16-17 – that’s this coming Monday.

In case the joke isn’t immediately apparent, $119 is the same price as a 12-month Prime subscription in the United States following the recent price hike. eBay has been playing on this with deals all week.

The Home Mini speaker is the smallest in Google’s range and has a value of $49.99. In our review we awarded the Assistant-powered device an 8/10 score and praised its good looks and affordability.

To take advantage of the deal, all eBay US users need to do is browse to eBay’s official Google Page and add a Home Mini to the cart before heading out on a shopping spree.

DEAL: Get a free Google Home Mini at eBay US when spending $119

Once you’re at checkout, with items to the value of  $119 (minus the cost of the Home, of course) or more in the cart, simply add the promo code PMINI4FREE to see the discount reflected. The deal is available until 2:59am on June 15, which is just before Prime Day gets started.

Retailers around the US have been getting their sales in early in the hope that shoppers will drain their disposable incomes before Prime Day gets started. eBay’s website currently has a banner reading “1 day only? We have deals all year.”

Unfortunately it appears the Google Home deal is only available in the US right now, but we’ll keep you posted if its added to the UK site.
