Dyson has launched a brand new vacuum cleaner – the Dyson Light Ball – that’s said to be 40% quieter than its predecessor.
In its continuing quest to build ridiculously futuristic vacuum cleaners, Dyson has unveiled the Light Ball, a new vacuum cleaner that’s built for maximum noise reduction.
The company utilised a team of dedicated acoustic engineers who worked using five semi-anechoic chambers to build as quiet a vacuum cleaner as possible.
“Thanks to expert engineering,” explains Dyson, “this noise reduction has been achieved with no compromise in cleaning performance. No other upright vacuum cleans better across carpets and hard floors, while the Dyson Light Ball machine is also light to carry and manoeuvre.”

Apparently, the Dyson Light Ball is 40% quieter than its predecessor thanks to a re-engineered motor mounting. But it’s also a decent cleaner by the sounds of it too – pun semi-intended.
Optimised airflows allow for the capture of microscopic dust and allergens within the built-in bin. Dyson reckons that particles as small as 0.3 microns can be retained in the machine.
The epicyclic drive technology used on the Light Ball also drives 18,270 nylon bristles into deep carpet, sealing in suction for maximum dust and dirt removal. There’s also a remodelled cleaner head that allows more large debris to be picked up.
The Dyson Light Ball will be available in two variants, the first of which is the Multifloor Vacuum, which is priced at £339.99. The other is the Animal Vacuum, which will set you back a heftier £369.99.
