Dyson DC24 & DC25: The Ball Is Back!

How on earth does it keep vacuum cleaners so interesting...?

We’re not really a domestic appliances site, but occasionally the occasional futuristic kitchen catches our eye and – more than I’d like to admit – the odd vacuum cleaner too…

As usual then, it’s fellow Brits Dyson which wows us and having produced the impossibly slim DC18 it has now gone old school and brought back its classic ball control.

Just like the original Dysons, the mini ‘DC24’ and full size ‘DC25’ capitalise on this design which enables them to move and twist with ease while also featuring the company’s famed ‘Root Cylone’ technology which not only promises no loss of suction but can actually purify the air around you at the same time. The customary quick draw telescopic wand is there too and the models are comfortable cleaning on all floors.

At 746 x 346 x 280mm, the DC24 is perfect for smaller houses and flats but still packs a punch with a constant 120 airwatts of suction while the easily removable bin has a capacity of 0.85 litres. As for the DC25 it is a larger 392 x 1071 x 310mm and holds 1.4 litres, but boasts 220 constant airwatts of suction.

Both come with cracking five year warranties but, being Dyson, don’t come cheap: on sale immediately, the DC24 goes for £229.99 and the DC25 an even heftier £279.99. Still as a Dyson owner myself (and you won’t hear a dissenting voice from our editor, he’s a long time convert too) they’re every bit worth the money…
