Dying Light Xbox 360 and PS3 cancelled

Versions of Dying Light for the Xbox 360 and PS3 have been cancelled in order to focus on creating a “truly next-gen experience”.

Originally scheduled for release earlier this year, the game was pushed to a January 2015 launch in order to give the developer more time to polish the game.

Now it looks like Polish developer Techland is taking that to another level, by scrapping the last-gen console versions of Dying Light.

“After thorough internal testing, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to leave past-gen systems behind and release Dying Light exclusively on the next-gen consoles and PC,” explained Techland.

“Put simply, older consoles just couldn’t run the game and stay true to the core vision of Dying Light at the same time”.

The game has been in development for three years and the last-gen versions were holding back the game from it being a “truly next-gen experience”.

“To ensure you enjoy Dying Light as much as we would like you to, we chose to release it without any compromises on the three stongest systems available. Thanks to this, you’ll get the full and best experience regardless of the platform you play on.”

Dying Light is a first-person action survival horror game, set in a open world that you must traverse using parkour-style skills.

The gameplay hinges on the different tactics you must use to survive the day and night in a zombie apocalypse. During the day, you’ll be scavenging for supplies and crafting weapons, while at night you’ll become the prey as the infected increase in strength and aggression. Plus, there’s also the nocturnal inhuman predators to contend with too.

Dying Light will be released on January 27, 2015.
