DXG Adds To Web-Centric Camcorders

YouTube friendly at a budget price.

Picking up where Sony left off this week is DXG which has come up with a more fully featured, yet still budget orientated YouTube friendly camcorder.

The ‘DXG-572V’ happily records Mpeg4 video to flash memory at a VGA resolution at 30fps for direct uploading to (s)head in your hands(/s) laugh-a-minute video sharing sites like YouTube and Yahoo! Video.

Away from this however the 572V also features a 1/1.8-inch, 5.13 megapixel CMOS sensor, 4x digital zoom, large 2-inch LCD screen and fixed focus lens with an f/2.8 aperture. Weirdly however – despite this large sensor – 640 x 480 and 320 x 240 at 30 fps is what it is limited to. There’s 32MB of onboard memory which can be augmented by the SD/MMC card slot, while EV compensation is from -2.0EV to +2.0EV and a shutter speed range of 1/10-1/500 and five white balance modes.

Non-interpolated stills can also be snagged from VGA all the way up to 4048 x 3040 pixels and with a weight of just 220g and dimensions of 12 x 7.2 x 4.5cm it is certainly highly portable.

To further cut down on price the 572V has taken the surprising step of ditching an internal rechargeable battery to instead run on four AAs, but with an RRP of just $149.99 you’ll have plenty of cash left over for spares.

Cheap and reasonably cheerful, the 572V goes on sale immediately.
