DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition may be released after all
Sony has confirmed it is continuing to work on the DriveClub PlayStation Plus Edition after all.
Although it was only yesterday that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Jim Ryan revealed the PlayStation Plus Edition of DriveClub may never arrive, Sony has revealed it might actually arrive – one day at least.
“We are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible,” said a Sony spokesperson in a statement passed to Eurogamer.
“Although currently we do not have an update regarding the timing for the launch.”
Well, that makes it all a bit clearer then doesn’t it. At least we have some confirmation that the PlayStation Plus Edition of the PS4 exclusive racer isn’t a total write-off, even if we don’t know when it will arrive.

The news from Sony comes after comments made by Jim Ryan earlier this week. Ryan said he couldn’t “guarentee” that the free version of DriveClub would ever arrive.
DriveClub was released in October last year, at which point it met horrendous server issues that rendered all online components inaccessible – the same online components that provided a huge part of the game’s overall appeal.
The server issues were so huge that the free PlayStation Plus Edition of the game was delayed and subsequently “postponed until further notice”.
“One would hope, and certainly we’ve learnt an awful lot from the DriveClub experience, that those mistakes, once made should not be repeated”, added Ryan.
