Does the No Man’s Sky Limited Edition accidentally reveal the end of online play?
*UPDATE*: Sony has responded to the sudden controversy regarding No Man’s Sky’s alleged removal of online play, confirming that it was nothing but an error during production.
“Incorrect descriptors were incorporated into the original No Man’s Sky limited edition packaging,” Sony said in a statement. “This was a production issue and was rectified using placement stickers.”
This was always going to be the most likely case for the sticker, and it’s nice to see Sony being quick to calm down any public outcry.

While No Man’s Sky currently doesn’t support traditional multiplayer, the limited edition box suggests it may have done in the past.
Those who received the limited edition in Europe have noticed a sticker has been placed over the packaging, changing the age rating and hiding the online play symbol.
Such a change suggests that online multiplayer was removed and/or changed at a late stage in development, or it was nothing but a printing mistake.
Either way, the messaging surrounding No Man’s Sky multiplayer component has been cloudy at best, and we can’t blame you for getting confused.

PCGamesN has also confirmed the sticker can be found on EU versions of the limited edition that are out in the wild.
Sony and Hello Games are yet to issue a statement on the sticker, or whether multiplayer was completely removed during development or not.
