Did the iPhone 7’s on sale date just leak at the last minute?

The iPhone 7 and big sibling the iPhone 7 Plus are set to launch later today, and we already knew that both devices had started shipping to Apple’s global retail partners, leaving just one question: when will the iPhone 7 actually go on sale?

Previous speculation and past Apple launch patterns pointed to a consumer release approximately 10 days after this evening’s big reveal, and we may have just had one final bit of confirmation that Friday September 16 is indeed the day to circle on your calendar.

Unconfirmed reports from Italian fanboy blog iPhoneItalia claim that mobile networks in the country including Vodafone and Three have pegged Thursday September 15 as the ‘White Night’, which presumably alludes to the new iPhone duo going on sale at midnight.

For the non-obsessed, that would mean a general on sale date of September 15, which chimes with gossip shared on social media by noted mobile leaker @evleaks:

Among other rumours, Apple’s new flagship devices are expected to feature all-new iPhone headphones and a couple of new iPhone colour options. You can get a full rundown of what to expect later today by following the link or watching the video below.
