Details Leak On 2nd Gen Nokia Touchscreen Phone

Still sounds decidedly midrange/uninspiring...

The world + his wife + dog + best friend’s clone living in a parallel universe identical to this one but without shrimp (one for the Buffy fans out there) know Nokia was late into the touchscreen game, but the Finns seem determined to make up for it…

A slew of touchscreen offerings are said to be in the works across both mid and high range sectors which means it is something of a shame the so-called ‘5530 XpressMusic’ looks to be next.

Leaked by the handset will be extremely similar to the competent if underwhelming 5800 XpressMusic (pictured above), sporting a 2.9in resistive (no, no, ”no”!) touchscreen, 3.2MP camera, WiFi, FM tuner, 150MB of native storage, microSDHC expansion slot and 3.5mm audio jack. Obvious – but omitted points – are compatibility with the Ovi store, HSDPA and Nokia Maps integration. Whether the mooted Nokia gesture input raises two fingers so soon seems unlikely.

As for release dates, I can’t see Nokia getting its act together before Q3 by which time we should be on the end of a third generation iPhone, Palm Pre and wider choice of Android handsets.

It sucks being late out the gate, doesn’t it guys…
