Destiny beta now available to all
Bungie has opened out its Destiny beta phase to all gamers.
The Halo creator’s next big project, Destiny, will launch in final form this September, but Bungie isn’t quite finished with its initial beta offering just yet.
In a recent blog post over on the official Bungie website, community manager DeeJ has revealed that all PlayStation and Xbox gamers can now access the Destiny beta.
“We need more Guardians to play,” reads the post. “we’re opening the Destiny Beta to anyone who wants to create a character and walk in their boots.”
There are some stipulations here, chiefly that you’ll need to be a fully paid up PlayStation Plus or Xbox Gold member. Otherwise, you can jump straight into the action on any of the four support platforms: PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
Of course, this isn’t merely a generous preview offer from Bungie. As the post notes of the whole beta shebang, “this is, above all else, a test.”
In order to stretch the Destiny servers to something like the capacity they’ll be reaching come September, Bungie is encouraging new beta players to “help us deliver the game you deserve.”
Destiny itself is an ambitious open world shooter that combines Halo-like multiplayer FPS action with a MMORPG structure and character progression. It will be Bungie’s first game since leaving Microsoft and the Halo franchise it created behind.
If you want to experience the beta first hand, you’re encouraged to “look for offers to download the Beta directly from your console.”
