Denon has unveiled its new range of AV receivers for 2017, and the manufacturer will soon be adding Apple AirPlay 2 and Amazon Alexa voice control.
That’s great news for fans of Denon, but the even better news is that both Apple AirPlay 2 and Amazon Alexa will be added to all of Denon’s networked receivers, from the AVR-X1500H up to the already released AVC-X8500H flagship 13-channel AV amplifier.
Alexa will be added via a firmware update later this month, allowing owners to control their networked AV receiver using voice commands.
The addition of Apple AirPlay 2 is expected in August via a firmware update, making Denon’s AV receivers the first to support the feature (along with stablemate Marantz), and at the same time Denon will roll out the update to its 2017 networked AV receivers.
Along with addition of Amazon Alexa and AirPlay 2, all of Denon’s networked AV receivers include the HEOS multiroom system, phono inputs and support for DTS Virtual:X. Denon has also given all of its AV receivers a makeover, with a new cosmetic design.
In terms of other new features, the highlights are:
- eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) added in August to the AVR-X3500H and above
- Auro-3D support included out of the box on the AVR-X4500H and above
- AK4458 high performance digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) on the AVR-X4500H and above
- Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support on all networked AV receivers
- Dolby Vision, HLG and HDR10 video support on all networked AV receivers
