Denon has announced its line-up of AV receivers for 2015, all offering advanced surround codec support and integration with Denon’s Heos wireless multi-room system.
The Denon 2015 AV receiver range starts off with the AVR-X2200W. It’s a £499, 7.2 receiver, a step up from the entry-level (but also slightly cheaper) 5.1 receiver we saw from Denon last year.
It offers 170 watts per channel, and plenty of features not seen in models at this price from the last couple of years. These include integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, dual HDMI outputs and seven HDMI inputs.
There’s also support for both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, two competing ‘next-gen’ surround formats.
The next model up is the Denon AVR-X3200W. It offers a bit more power with 180W per channel, and a better video scaler. It’ll upscale to 4K at 60Hz.
DTS Neural:X is also supported, something missing from the AVR-X2200W.
There’s also the AVR-4200W, which adds a bit more power again at 200W per channel, as well as adding a few extra features.
These include 9.2 processing (it’s still a 7.2 receiver, though), three HDMI outputs, Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 and support for Auro 3D, another new surround format. This model costs £1,099. And it’s also a lot swankier-looking than the cheaper boxes.

Right at the top of the range is the AVR-X7200A, a 210 watt-per-channel 9.2 amplifier using a high-end DAC.
It’ll cost you £2,499. The main upgrade over last year’s AVR-X7200 is HDCP 2.2 support, something you get in all these receivers. Already own that model? You can also send it off to Marantz for an upgrade.
