All three new Axims now feature dual-memory slots, while the top-end model sports a VGA screen.
Dell has updated its Axim PDA range with three stylish new models. The new Axims now feature a compact flash memory slot as well as a SDIO compatible SD card slot
Top of the heap is the X50v. We commented in our recent review of the Dell X30, the only major feature missing was a VGA screen, and sure enough this has been addressed by the X50v, which has a 3.7inch screen with a resolution of 640 x 480. The screen is powered by an Intel 2700G Multimedia Accelerator for optimized 2D and 3D graphics and DVD-quality video playback. An optional video-out cable enables road warriors to connect the Axim X50v to video projectors, display presentations, spreadsheets and documents.
To show off the high resolution screen and the processing power available, Dell ships two games with the X50v.
Other features include a 624MHz Intel XScale processor and integrated 802.11b Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It has 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM.
The X50 drops the processor to 520MHz and loses the VGA resolution, making do with quarter VGA, and 64MB of ROM. The third model is a X50 with a 416MHz processor, which also omits the integrated W-Fi.
The new Axim’s will be available to order from the November 9. The top-of-the-range X50v will cost £348.39 including VAT and delivery. The 520MHz X50 will cost £301.39, while the 416MHz X50 will cost £277.89.
