Dedicated Twitch app launches on PS4
A dedicated Twitch app has just launched on the PS4, allowing gamers to watch their favourite stream sessions.
Although PS4 owners have been able to stream their gaming sessions via Twitch since launch, the Sony console only allowed you to watch Twitch broadcasts of PS4 titles. Unlike it’s rival the Xbox One of course.
However, that has now changed, because the PS4 just got its own dedicated Twitch app. It’s a full-featured piece of software that allows PS4 users to watch streamers from all platforms, playing all kinds of titles.
That brings Sony’s new-gen console in line with the Twitch services on iOS, Android, Xbox One and PC.

Twitch detailed its new PS4 app last month at the first ever TwitchCon conference and explained that the app would also launch on PS3 and PS Vita alongside the PS4.
It’s rolling out on PS4 in the American territories first, with other regions following shortly. There’s no word on when it’ll hit the UK at this point, apart from in the very near future.
The PS3 and PS Vita versions should be available before the end of autumn.
Although the functionality across the three PlayStation Twitch apps will be very similar, the PS4 app will be the only one with full chat functionality.
