Deal: Sign up for Apple Pay and get £5/$5 of at the Apple Store

Apple is hoping to entice shoppers at its retail locations to try Apple Pay by offering a bonus fiver to those signing up to the mobile payment platform.

According to a MacRumors report, Apple Store employees will ask customers whether they wish to pay with Apple Pay.

If iPhone or Apple Watch owners don’t have it set up on their device, they’ll be walked through the process and earn £5/$5 off their purchase or walk away with an iTunes gift card of the same value, once the transaction is complete.

The report says there will be no purchase exempt from the promotion in the UK and the USA. Those buying iPhones, gift cards or third-party accessories will all be able to capitalise.

Even if users decide to take the product back to the store, they’ll be able to keep the bonus as a reward for signing up in the first place.

MacRumors says the promotion begins this week, but there’s no word on how long it will last.
