Google is offering significant discounts on the Home Mini speaker, with Mother’s Day in the US coming this Sunday.
If purchasing the Home Mini speaker on its own, Google is offering the familiar $10 discount, making the speaker $39.
However, if you buy two Google Home Mini speakers, you can get a $40 discount. That means two for $59.
The order is available until May 13 at 11:59 PST in the US. In the UK, Brits can benefit from £10 off (now £39), but there’s no bumper discount on a pair.
Given Google I/O is coming up on Tuesday May 8 there’s a slight possibility this may herald the arrival of the sequel.
However, given the Mini is less than a year old and we’re yet to hear any such rumblings, this is very unlikely.
The discount mirrors what Amazon is offering for the Echo Dot speaker; $10 one or $40 off two speakers.
Both speakers have been popular among consumers, who’ve chosen between Amazon’s Alexa and the Google Assistant platforms.
While Alexa has more ‘Skills’ to its name, the Google Assistant leverages the power of Google Search.
In our review, we gave the Google Home Mini an 8/10 score. We praised the speaker for its affordability and design, but we were disappointed in the absence of Bluetooth and a 3.5mm jack.
Our Home tech editor Ced Yuen wrote: “If you want to take your first step into the world of smart homes, and you want Google Assistant throughout your house, the Google Home Mini is an affordable way of making that happen.
“The Amazon Echo Dot is more impressive on the hardware front, however. It offers more physical controls, and its audio output means it can be easily be turned into part of a larger audio system.”
