Criterion’s extreme sports racer has been cancelled

Criterion’s unnamed extreme sports title has been cancelled, EA has confirmed.
First announced at E3 2014, many eager fans were hoping for more information on the game at this year’s show.
Unfortunately, Eurogamer recently discovered that the game has been silently canned by Electronic Arts.
“While Criterion has moved on from the previous project they’ve spoken about and aren’t pursuing it specifically, they are continuing to build new ideas and experiment with new IP for EA,” an EA spokesperson said.

Some of these “experiments” include Star Wars Battlefront VR and Battlefield Hardline.
Criterion’s latest project was set to be a first-person racer that saw players control multiple vehicles such as speedboats, ATVs, motorbikes and planes.
The studio is most fondly remembered for its fantastic Burnout franchise, which hasn’t seen a new entry since Burnout Paradise in 2008.
