CoWatch is a watch with Amazon’s Alexa personal assistant built-in

Smartwatches were supposed to be the next big thing, but since the Apple Watch, there’s been a distinct lack of innovation. The CoWatch boasts something genuinely new though – Alexa, Amazon’s personal assistant.
Alexa is the technology found in the Amazon Echo, the home personal assistant that’s annoyingly still not on sale in the UK. It’s mighty smart, recognising your voice and doing all sorts of things for you, be it playing a song, looking up some information from the internet, or setting an alarm.
Of course it has all the usual smartwatch skills too, like SMS and emails, heart rate monitoring, step counting and the like. It’s powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and has 1GB of RAM and 8GB flash memory. Unusually for a smartwatch, the battery life is pretty good too – 32 hours in Always-On mode.

Don’t expect to find Android Wear under the hood – it runs the new Chronologics OS. We’ll have to see about that. And it works with both Android and iOS devices.
You can pick one up for $159 (£111) on an early bird. If successful – and seeing as it’s raised over 80 per cent of its funding goal and still has a month to go, it looks like it will be – it will ship in June.
