Cougar Spike, micro-ATX case launched in the UK
Cougar has introduced its latest micro-ATX case, the Cougar Spike, to the UK market.
Its standout feature is the ability to accommodate graphics cards up to 330mm in length, so despite being a compact chassis measuring just 180 x 370 x 425mm it will still fit the very biggest and fastest graphics cards.
It also has space for 2 x 5.25in drives, 2 x 3.5in drives and a 2.5in drive while cooling is provided by up to four fans, with one space at the front (fan included), one at the rear and two side panel mounting points – all can fit fans up to 120mm in size.
It also has front panel audio jack and USB 3.0 access and four rear expansion slots.
The steel chassis is painted black with a typical ‘gamer’ oriented angular plastic front section. It’s hardly at the forefront of case styling but is a bit more interesting than a totally square design.

What’s most striking about the Spike, though, is its price. With an MSRP of just £26.99 it’s among the cheapest micro-ATX cases you can get.
The build quality will likely reflect this but if you simply need a basic chassis to get your small gaming PC off to a start it’s a better bet than a totally no-name option. Indeed the chassis has been available in other countries for a while and has been reviewed, receiving favourable scores. We will of course be looking to pass our own judgement as soon as possible.
