Cortana makes early appearance on Xbox One
Cortana has made an early appearance on Xbox One via a secret command in the new dashboard beta.
Although Cortana won’t officially be available on Xbox One until next year, those trialling the new dashboard via the Preview Programme have discovered her lurking in the shadows.
This is far from an official roll out but it’s interesting to see how Cortana could work with the new Xbox One UI.
If you’re on the Preview Programme, you might be able to access Cortana by heading to the Settings panel, and then hitting A a few times.
This will activate Cortana and Snap her to the side of your currently played game or app.
As the Xbox One UI is now powered by Windows 10, the Cortana experience is identical to that found on your PC. She floats in the top left, activated by saying “Hey Cortana” for voice commands.

The plan is to expand Cortana’s functionality on Xbox One to support more console specific features like inviting friends to parties, but right now it’s fairly limited.
You can get access to your calendar, news, stocks and more – just like you can on Windows 10.
The Xbox One Experience is due to launch for everyone this November, bringing with it Windows 10, the new UI and Xbox One backwards compatibility.
