Commodore ‘Ends The World’ With Desktop Pricing

Not for the faint hearted.

When we got our first look at Commodore’s new gaming PCs at CeBIT we thought they might be expensive… and we weren’t wrong.

Top of the tree is the ‘Commodore xx’ which the company isn’t shy to tell us is “The fastest, most powerful Gaming PC money can buy” and “a world ending device” which I’m not sure is a good thing. Either way if you want to end the world you can for a whopping £2,899.99 (including VAT!).

Inside this doomsday device you’ll get an Intel Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core QX6700 CPU, Asus P5N32-E NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI mobo, 2x 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Raid 0 HDDs, 2GB of Corsair DOMINATOR Twin2x2048-8500C5D 1066MHz RAM, a DVD rewriter, 850W ICE Cube PSU, Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card, twin nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB SLI graphics cards and Vista Home Premium. Quite a list though I can’t help but think Vista Ultimate and an HD DVD or Blu-ray drive could have made it in for the price?

Also popping out from under the covers to perhaps trouble – if not end – the world, is the ‘Commodore gx’ which offers up an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6550 processor, the same mobo, a 500GB 7,200 RPM hard drive, 2GB of Corsair XMS2 Twin2x2048-6400C4 800MHz RAM, a DVD rewriter, 750W ICE Cube PSU, integrated Hi Def 7.1 channel sound, two nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB graphics cards and Vista Premium for £1,759.

No prices have yet turned up for the company’s ‘gs’ and ‘g’ models but these won’t be sold online and aren’t available until next month anyhow.

So if you want to do your wallet (and seemingly the entire human race) permanent damage you know what to do…
