COD: Black Ops 2 beats Far Cry 3 to third week of chart success

Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 release has made it three straight weeks atop the UK All Format Gaming Chart, seeing off stiff competition from new release Far Cry 3.

The latest high-profile challenger to COD’s chart topping success, Friday’s Far Cry 3 release date could only see the Ubisoft published title manage a second spot launch week, one place above the continuing success of the gaming chart, FIFA 13 which once again claimed the final podium position.

Dropping two places in its second week on sale, last week’s highest new entry, Hitman Absolution, could only manage fourth for the week ending December 1. Former chart topped Assassin’s Creed 3 rounding out the top five positions.

Switching places during the past week, Just Dance 4 has risen one position to end the week in sixth whist the Warner Bros published LEGO The Lord of the Rings dropped one spot to seventh. With Halo 4 sinking to eighth in the All Format Gaming Charts, Skylanders Giant Toys and Need for Speed Most Wanted make up the remainder of the top 10 in ninth and tenth positions respectively.

Despite last week’s eagerly awaited November 30 Nintendo Wii U UK release date, none of the new console’s launch titles made the top 10 sales chart with Nintendo Land unsurprisingly lining up as the highest selling Nintendo Wii U game in 11th spot. New Super Mario Bros. U followed up in 14th position whilst Zombi U took 17th.
