The second-generation Chromecast is a worthy follow-up to the original and a great way to stream media from your smartphone to your TV. It offers a more practical form factor and improved Wi-Fi for the same low price.
Google also added a second Chromecast device to the roster this year in the shape of the Chromecast Audio. It might look like the Chromecast 2, but it plugs into virtually any old speaker or Hi-Fi through the 3.5mm connector, enabling you to stream music wirelessly.
Both are available for just £30, but if that’s not incentive enough to buy them, Google has just launched an appealing new deal. If you buy one of these Chromecasts before January 15, you’ll get £20 of Google Play movie credit at no cost.
The good news is that Google is post-dating this offer to November 15, so if you bought a Chromecast less than a month ago you’ll be able to claim.

It’s worth noting that the Chromecast Audio has improved drastically within the last week. Google has added the ability to sync up multiple units, making it one of the most affordable multi-room audio set-ups available. Hi-res audio support has also been added.
All of which means that the Chromecast 2 and Chromecast Audio are even more compelling stocking fillers than before. Which, we suspect, is precisely what Google had in mind with this deal.
