Chelsea vs Man United match preview
United haven’t done themselves proud in their last three league outings, drawing 0-0 at home to Wolves, losing 2-0 at home to Burnley and losing 2-0 away to Liverpool.
There were some cup wins in-between those poor results, but Ole’s reds are going through a tough time.
Chelsea are six points better off than ninth place United, up in fourth. The blues’ hopes of netting a Champions League spot next season have recently been boosted too, following Manchester City’s controversial ban from the tournament.
In Chelsea’s last three league outings, they’ve managed a draw away at Leicester, a draw at home to Arsenal, and a 1-0 loss away at Newcastle. So, things are far from rosy, but a little healthier than Manchester United’s recent form.
Most indications, as far as recent form goes, point to Chelsea getting some sort of result tonight, but United have shown a tendency to step up in big fixtures this season, despite turning in truly dreadful performances against the likes of Burnley and Watford.
However, Chelsea fans won’t be overly confident of bagging a result, given the fact they’ve lost twice to United already this season. Firstly in the season opening 4-0 loss at Old Trafford and secondly in their Carabao Cup tie at Stamford Bridge, which ended 2-1 to the reds. Marcus Rashford’s eye-popping free kick (quickly set to the Titanic theme by fans on social media,) was the difference that night, but the striker is currently still sidelined due to an injury.
Odion Ighalo may make his debut for the reds this evening, despite some recent fears that the striker may have been carrying the coronavirus. The striker was seemingly signed to offer United more in the way of hold up play, and it will be interesting to see what he contributes to Solskjaer’s United team.
