CES 2023 has officially opened its doors to the press and the public. In this guide, you’ll find all the latest, not-to-be-missed news directly from the Las Vegas showroom.
The Consumer Electronics Show – more commonly known as CES – is an annual tech conference that takes place at the beginning of January every year and has done since 1967 (pandemic restrictions permitting).
The event gives brands a space to showcase their latest products and innovations, including futuristic concept designs and finished devices set for release in 2023 and beyond.
Major companies like Google, Microsoft, LG, Sony, Qualcomm and Samsung are in attendance this year, along with many more we don’t have space in this introduction to list. It’s only the first day, but we’ve already heard plenty of announcements from these brands and others.
We’ll be updating this page with all the most exciting CES news throughout the week, so be sure to check back tomorrow for further updates from the event.
When is CES 2023?
CES takes place between Thursday January 5 and Sunday January 8 this year, with both media and the public invited to attend during these dates.
However, the showroom opened to the media first on Tuesday January 3 with the ‘Tech Trends to Watch’ and ‘CES Unveiled’ events giving us an early peek at some upcoming tech. This is followed by a series of keynotes from individual companies on January 4, starting with AMD at 6:30pm PST.
CES 2023 news
So, what has been announced at CES 2023 so far?
Samsung
Samsung has announced a folding and sliding laptop display called the Flex Hybrid. The versatile OLED display will be showcased at the company’s invite-only ‘Disruptive Tech Journey Unlocks Sustainable Futures’ exhibit from January 4 with Samsung calling it “the prototype of future laptops”.
The company has also announced a new range of gaming monitors led by the Odyssey Neo G9 – the world’s first single monitor with a dual UHD resolution – as well as the 5K ViewFinity S9 for creative professionals and the colourful Smart Monitor M8 for productivity.
Samsung also unveiled a long list of new TVs across its Neo QLED, MicroLED and OLED lines, as well as an update to the Freestyle projector that launched at last year’s CES.
Finally, the company showcased the latest updates to its Bespoke Kitchen lineup, including the Bespoke AI Oven and the Bespoke 4 Door Flex refrigerator.

LG
LG has unveiled its 2023 TV line-up made up of its most advanced OLED TVs yet, including the Z3, G3 and C3 OLED Evo series TVs. The company also announced the new LG Signature OLED M3, a 97-inch display that is able to receive 4K 120Hz video and audio wirelessly.
LG also showed off a new series of soundbars designed to be paired with its new range of TVs.
Nvidia
Nvidia made a major announcement at CES when it officially revealed the RTX 4070 Ti. The graphics card replaces the RTX 4080 12GB configuration and is based on the same Ada Lovelace architecture, which includes features such as DLSS 3.0 and more efficient ray tracing.
The high-end graphics card packs 7680 CUDA Cores, 40 Shader TFLOPS and 128GB of GDDR6X memory. It sits below the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 in Nvidia’s line-up.
The company also announced its new range of RTX 4000 GPUs for laptops, which includes the RTX 4090, RTX 4080, RTX 4070, RTX 4060 and RTX 4050.
Like the RTX 4070 Ti, all of the above graphics cards are built upon the Ada Lovelace architecture. They’re also 3x more power efficient than the RTX 3000 series and offer up to 4x the performance for the most demanding games and creation apps.
Intel
Intel, meanwhile, has unveiled its 13th Generation Intel Core processors for laptops using the same architecture found inside the Raptor Lake desktop chips.
The processors are divided into four categories, including HX, H-Series, P-Series and U-Series, with the HX chips topping the list as Intel’s fastest laptop processors yet.
Lenovo
Lenovo has released a number of products that we’ve gotten the chance to see in person at CES this year.
These include the dual-screen Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2023), the feature-packed Lenovo Tab Extreme and the 10.3-inch Lenovo Smart Paper e-ink notebook, all of which you can learn more about in our first impressions reviews right now.
Audio-Technica
Japanese audio brand Audio-Technica is moving into the live streaming market with what it is calling the “world’s first streaming headsets“, with the ATH-M50xSTS StreamSet with a 3.5mm connection and the ATH-M50xSTS-USB StreamSet with USB-C.
Panasonic
Among the many brands launching TVs at CES this year, Panasonic has announced its own MZ2000 flagship OLED display.
The 4K TV comes in 55, 65 and 77-inch variants, with each model taking advantage of a brand new panel, a new heat management system and a whole range of image processing, gaming and audio improvements.
TCL
TCL has expanded its paper-like NXTPAPER range with a range of devices that include a 2-in-1 detachable laptop and a tablet.
The TCL BOOK X12GO and the TCL NXTPAPER 12 Pro both come with 12.2-inch, 3:2 displays with matching 2K resolutions. Both devices also take advantage of the latest NXTPAPER technology, which is 100% brighter than its predecessor and can filter out blue light by up to 61% to help with eye health while still providing sharp and vibrant images.
What to expect from CES 2023?
Most of the upcoming CES 2023 announcements are currently confidential, so we don’t know for certain what will be unveiled just yet.
That said, there are plenty of rumours doing the rounds of what gadgets could feature at CES. We can also look back at previous CES events to make educated guesses of the 2023 lineup.
Firstly, it looks like CES 2023 will have a big focus on computing products. Nvidia and AMD have both confirmed they’ll be attending CES, as the companies are expected to unveil more graphics cards as part of the new RTX 4000 and RDNA 3 generations.
It’s also highly likely that both companies will unveil variants of the new GPUs for high-performance laptops. We also think AMD and Intel will be showing off new processors, both for desktops and laptops.
These announcements will trigger a big domino effect in the laptop space, with companies such as Acer, Asus, HP, Dell and Lenovo launching new portables powered by the cutting-edge specs.
We’re also expecting there to be a big push on 8K TVs from the likes of LG and Samsung. There’s been a big focus on bendable screens in 2022, so expect the trend to continue into CES 2023.
It’s unlikely that we’ll see many major smartphones announced at CES, with most manufacturers historically choosing to launch such products during MWC (Mobile World Congress) in late February instead. That said, Samsung did unveil the Galaxy S21 FE during CES 2022 so we wouldn’t rule out a reveal for the successor.
A couple of manufacturers, such as LG and Razer, also tend to reveal high-concept devices during CES. Last year, we saw rollable phones and Razer’s smart mask – such projects aren’t guaranteed to hit stores, but show us what could be possible in the near future.
It’s also important to remember that CES isn’t just a platform for recognisable global brands. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for small start-up companies to show the world what they’ve been working on. In the past, we’ve seen robots, AR glasses and plenty more.
