Announces 18 new products, with Dual Band routers and new ReadyNAS products being the highlights.
In a lively press conference headed by founder and CEO Patrick Lo and VP of Product Marketing Vivek Pathela, Netgear heaped praise on itself by proclaiming itself to be the most innovative and successful home networking company in the world, being the #1 in Europe and a close #2 in the USA. And, as cynical as I’d prefer to be, it’s hard to deny Netgear had a good 2007, with its range of ReadyNAS home storage products proving particularly praiseworthy.
Having launched 48 new products in 2007, Netgear announced that it would be showing 18 new products at CES this year, with its press conference focussing on just three of these new products. It began, however, by outlining its aspiration for the All-Access Home, where any kind of media can be accessed wirelessly anywhere in the home – using Netgear products naturally enough.
However there are problems, with the presentation highlighting interference in the increasingly crowded 2.4GHz band, limited bandwidth across different rooms and the difficulties of getting all your network capable devices to play nice with each other. It’s with these problems in mind that Netgear introduced its three new flagship products, starting with a new addition to the RangeMax Wireless Router range, the ”’ RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router”’.
