Canon PowerShot SX280 HS and SX270 HS point and shoots unveiled with brand new processor

Canon has revealed two new additions to its SX point and shoot camera range – the Canon PowerShot SX280 HS and the Canon PowerShot SX270 HS – with a brand new Digic 6 image processor.

The two cameras are being aimed at customers looking to catalogue their travels with excellent snaps and super-smooth video footage.
Canon PowerShot SX280 HS and SX270 HS Features
The headline feature for both cameras is the addition of Canon‘s brand new Digic 6 image processor. This processor allows for Full HD video recording at 60fps, as well as vastly improved low-light performance with a claimed “30 per cent more detail captured than the models’ predecessors” – all without the use of a flash.

Both camera have 25mm wide-angle 20x optical zoom lenses (which can be used while filming), 12.1-megapixel image sensors, and ISO capabilities of up to ISO 6400. They both also have a five-axis image stabiliser for shake-free video.

Around the back of each device you’ll find a 3-inch 461,000 dot LCD screen, with an added tempered glass layer for extra strength.

The two phones also share an interesting new software feature that we’ve seen before in smartphones. Hybrid Auto mode records 720p footage of the four seconds before each shot. Then, at the end of the day, each four second snippet is combined to tell the story of your day’s shooting.

In fact the only difference between the Canon PowerShot SX280 HS and the SX270 HS is that the former has integrated Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities.
