Canon PowerShot G15 leaked

The next advanced compact in the Canon G-series has been leaked online, the Canon PowerShot G15. It appears to mark a return to the smaller form of the Canon PowerShot G12 after the chunky PowerShot G1 X.

A photo of the Canon PowerShot G15 has been leaked online over at CanonRumors. Although the last in this numbering lineage was the G12, we’re not too surprised Canon skipped “lucky number 13”, and we guess G15 is just a bit catchier than G14. It reportedly features a similar spec list to the PowerShot G12, with a 10-megapixel sensor and 5x optical zoom, but the improved DIGIC V image processor engine and a faster f/1.8 lens. The flash style has changed too, form a standard inbuilt one to a pop-up version.

The Canon PowerShot G15 is expected to be officially unveiled at Photokina 2012, alongside the full-frame Canon EOS 6D DSLR. Photokina 2012 kicks off on 18 September.

Canon’s PowerShot G12 was launched back in September 2010, making it about time for a refresh. Earlier this year, Canon released the PowerShot G1 X, but that camera is a larger, more expensive device with a DSLR-grade sensor.
